West Hartford Center is a rich mixture of ages, colors and cultures. The Center features unique shops and incredible dining and is always bustling with activity. What a perfect place to
Sit
'n Knit. Realizing this, Barbara and Richard Fabian opened their yarn shop in November 2004.
Barbara, an avid knitter, was encouraged by friends to open a shop where they could find unique yarns and superb help. Along with her husband, Richard, she quickly found a cozy storefront on popular LaSalle Road. She immediately started to stock the store with basic yarn, from the most popular manufacturers, along with fabulous hand-dyes and specialties. Besides yarn, Barbara filled the shop with necessary notions and fun accessories.
Her plan was to offer needlework guidance, personalized instruction, original designs, fun classes
and finishing services. The shop's success
has forced her to move to a new, much
bigger and brighter location just across
the street, with more room to display
those fabulous yarns and accessories. As
an added bonus, the new space has a large
classroom for lessons, parties and other
events. Fast
forward two years later. Old
Wethersfield is a living and working
community that also happens to be devoted
to preserving it's authentic New England
heritage.
Wanting to open a second location to share
the fun and camaraderie that the original
store provides, Barbara and Richard found
a second location, inside the Comstock,
Ferre & Co. building in downtown Old
Wethersfield. Sit'
n Knit, too is a bit more casual, in
keeping with it's surroundings. The shop
offers a huge selection of yarn, needles,
books and everything necessary for
knitting/crocheting needs. There's plenty
of seating to gather and relax and lots of
new classes. |
