Barbara, an avid knitter, was encouraged by friends to open a shop where they could find unique yarns and superb help. Along with her husband, Richard, she quickly found a cozy storefront and started to stock the shop with basic yarn, from the most popular manufacturers, along with fabulous hand-dyes and specialties. Besides yarn, Barbara filled the shop with necessary notions and fun accessories.

Her plan was to offer needlework guidance, personalized instruction, original designs, fun classes and finishing services. The shop's success has forced her to move to a new, much bigger and brighter location just across the street, with more room to display those fabulous yarns and accessories. As an added bonus, the new space has a large classroom for lessons, parties and other events.

The original shop (in West Hartford Center) soon became too small for all of the terrific merchandise Barbara wanted to offer, so she set out to find yet another, even larger location.

Sit "n Knit is now located in the heart of Bloomfield. You can find us on the east side of the Wintonbury Mall, #55. Our phone number is the same, but the space is bigger than before, bright and airy, with plenty of places to sit 'n knit. Plus, there's free parking!!
